Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa had a philosophical answer when asked his opinion on the Patrick Bamford penalty incident.

With the game goalless, the former Chelsea striker looked to be upended after getting on the end of a loose Neal Maupay pass.

Referee Keith Stroud waved appeals away before Maupay and Sergi Canos went on to seal a win for Thomas Frank’s men.

“If I give you my view it means I judge the referee,” said Bielsa.

“I can’t express an opinion without making a judgement on them.

“When you ask for something it means you are trying to justify the result.

“And I don’t like to put the responsibility on someone else, like the referee.

“The most difficult task in football is the referees job.

“And the best way to help them is not to pressure them.”

The calm reaction from the Argentinian seems perplexing such was the significance of the defeat that leaves United three points behind Sheffield United in second.
