Carshalton Athletic player/manager Peter Adeniyi is beaming right now after a bright start to his team’s winter schedule, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

The Robins have registered five wins and a draw during November after a run of form that saw them exit the FA Cup and earn only six out of a possible 18 league points last month.

Those results - which include Saturday's 3-2 victory at Thamesmead Town in which Mickel Miller, Raheem Sterling-Parker and Ricky Korboa found the target - have catapulted the Robins back into fourth place in the Bostik South.

“We had a two week break ahead of our trip to Whyteleafe at the start of the month, so I treated it like a mini-pre-season, smiled Adeniyi.

“We had the boys running a lot but we also worked on some things which we are now benefitting from. I’m pleased with every single one of the players – they are improving with every game.”

Adeniyi has also added some new faces to his squad, including four-goal debutant striker Omar Koroma, defender Mohammed-Idris Oshilaja and midfielder Ross Elsom, and he feels they have all slotted in well.

“I’m satisfied with the current strength of the squad and happy (chairman) Paul Dipre has backed me in terms of recruitment,” he explained.

“Omar has played at a high level and gelled with everyone at his first training session, so he gave me no choice but to start him at Hythe.

“Michael Aziaya is another who understood what we wanted and has become the type of player I’ve wanted to sign since becoming a manager here last season.

“Plus, we have the likes of Kalvin Morath-Gibbs and Paris Hamilton-Downes making their way back from injury.”
