Zoltan Gera admits he cannot wait for Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Hamburg as the Cottagers look to spring yet another surprise.

The semi-final showdown will see Fulham travel to Germany for the first leg on the back of a turgid 0-0 draw with Wolves last weekend.

But, having seen off Juventus, Shaktar Donetsk and Wolfsburg on their way to the last four, Gera has no fears.

He said: “This is the big one.

“I have never been involved in a game like this before.

“It is the biggest game I have been involved in and I just hope I am involved.

“But it is not just a big game for me, it is for everyone involved with the club.

“We will be well prepared and we will be ready.

“We are all looking forward to it and it is another step on what has been a fantastic journey.

“We know that on our day we are a match for anyone so we will go there with the belief we can do well.”

Thursday’s clash will be a far cry from the tame stalemate at the Cottage on Saturday as both Fulham and Wolves managed the grand total of one shot on target between them in a dismal 90 minutes.

The point moved Fulham to 10th spot in the Premier League, and Gera refused to read too much into the display.

He added: “Wolves are a good side and they are on a good run of form.

“You could see how much the game meant to them.

“There were still chances for us and for me it was a game we should have won.

“We didn’t win, but we didn;t lose, so although I am naturally disappointed we are not too disheartened.”
