Charlton’s 2-1 defeat at Preston means the Addicks have registered just one win in 16 league games.

In that run Lee Bowyer’s men have only failed to find the back of the net on four occasions, but alarmingly they’ve not kept a clean sheet in that time.

In 12 of those fixtures they’ve conceded two or more goals.

The loss at Deepdale keeps the Addicks entrenched in a relegation battle, and with fixtures against lowly Barnsley, Stoke and Luton on the horizon, February will be vital.

But more importantly it’s what Charlton do in January that have many fans talking.

The club have reportedly made enquiries over Peterborough attacker Marcus Maddison, while Lee Bowyer admitted he’s after a couple more in the attacking third.

The supporters however feel that after the Addicks’ display at Preston, issues at the back need to be resolved before firepower is added.

Tom Lockyer has been a mainstay in Bowyer’s side this season, while Naby Sarr, Jason Pearce and Deji Oshilaja have all failed to cement down a regular starting spot.

Although their commitment has never been in question, many feel something needs to change if Charlton are to climb the table.
