Millwall have signed Stoke City’s Ryan Woods on loan for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old is manager Gary Rowett’s first signing since arriving at The Den.

Woods returns to the capital where he spent four seasons with Brentford between 2015 and 2019, before moving permanently to Stoke at the beginning of last year.

The midfielder has made eight appearances this season for Michael O’Neil’s side, his last league outing coming at the start of December.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be here," he told Millwall FC.

"It's been a frustrating period for me over the last few months, but I'm pleased to get the deal done and can't wait to get going.

"The lads and the club are doing a great job in the League at the moment, and hopefully I can come and add to that.

"I'm raring to go. I've missed the last six or seven matches, so my match fitness may be different, but I played the six or seven before that.

"Hopefully I can go straight in."

Rowett will know all about Woods having worked with the £6million signing while at the helm at the Bet365 Stadium.

"I know Gary and the staff really well and he played a big part in getting me here," Woods added.

"I've played against a lot of the lads before as well, so hopefully it will be easy for me to settle in and get going as quickly as possible.

"I'd like to think that I will add a bit of composure on the ball and have a decent range of passing.

"I'll always give 110% and let the fans and the club be the judge of my performances."

Woods will be available for selection for Reading’s visit to The Den tomorrow.
