Millwall are more than a one-man team according to Gary Rowett despite Jed Wallace proving once again to be the catalyst in their 2-1 victory at Bristol City.

The attacker scored and assisted Jake Cooper in a surprise Lions victory at Ashton Gate on Tuesday evening.

Wallace’s strike took his tally to eight for the season and his form has reportedly sparked interest from top-flight clubs.

The 25-year-old’s performances of late have been a huge contributing factor in Millwall’s resurgence under Rowett, who’s record now reads four wins, four draw and one defeat since arriving.

Rowett however, although full of praise for his starman was equally as enthusiastic to laud the wider squad.

“He would be the first to admit that 10 other players are providing the structure from which he can score and assist,” Rowett said.

"But it seems Jed Wallace is instrumental in everything we achieve at the moment.

“His recent stats are unbelievable.”

Millwall’s away stats have improved dramatically under Rowett, and Tuesday’s win against Lee Johnson’s promotion chasing outfit, who registered an impressive win at Fulham on the weekend, is not to be taken lightly.

At 2-0 the Lions looked to be on their way to a comfortable win before Callum O’Dowda struck with six minutes to go to make for a nervy climax.

"The only thing that disappoints me is that when we concede goals we tend to drop off, which left us hanging on in this game.

"It's hard not to do that, but it is something we need to be better at. Overall, however, I couldn't be happier.

"We are not setting any specific targets for the season, but we are on a good run and that breeds confidence.

"City are difficult to play against when they keep on getting high balls into the box, but we defended strongly when we had to."

Millwall, who are now four points off the play off spots in 12th place travel to Derby County on Saturday.
