Captain Luka Milivojevic said Crystal Palace were furious when play wasn’t stopped in the lead-up to Liverpool’s fourth goal.

Andy Robertson hooked the ball back into play from the sideline before Sadio Mané glided into the box and finished past Julián Speroni.

The 27-year-old insists play should have been stopped, because Robertson appeared to handball it, but refuses blame the officials.

He said: “The ball goes for a throw-in and suddenly he [Robertson] touched the ball with a hand. The ball’s still in. I think the left back played it to Mané and they score.

“We were very angry, we were very angry because of that situation.”

When asked whether he thought play should’ve been stopped by referee Jonathan Moss, Milivojevic added: “I think that should have been stopped but that was a very hard position for the referee, possibly the linesman, but he said he didn’t see anything and we can’t blame anyone.”

The Palace skipper also bemoaned the goals his team conceded as “very cheap” and “lucky” after they relinquished a 1-0 lead which came thanks to Andros Townsend’s opener.

They let in two goals inside five minutes before Mohamed Salah, who scored a minute into the second half, grabbed his brace with 15 minutes remaining.

Liverpool’s first two goals had significant deflections in their build-ups while Milivojevic put the Reds’ third down to Palace’s own error.

“I think we deserved a little bit more from this game,” he said. “We conceded very cheap goals.”

“I think we defended very well. I didn’t see any problems because I just saw they were moving the ball side-to-side in the first half, they didn’t try to go through us.

“We wanted to start strong in the second half but I think the first goal was very cheap [to concede] and very lucky for them.

“It’s a shame to lose this kind of game but we can’t cry now, we have to carry on and turn to the next game [against Tottenham in the FA Cup].”
