Andros Townsend, James Tomkins and Max Meyer were all on the scoresheet as Crystal Palace lost out late to Liverpool in a seven-goal thriller.

The visitors took a shock lead into the break when Townsend opened the scoring after 34 minutes, despite the Reds’ dominance.

But after Roberto Firmino handed them the lead following Mohamed Salah’s equaliser, Salah would score again before Mané added the finishing touch to ensure all three points.

Here’s how we rated Palace’s players...

Julián Speroni - 6 - Replays suggested his efforts for the third goal were a little bizarre but he was a tad unfortunate. Had a reasonable performance given the circumstances.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 7 - He was pretty solid down the right side, though Palace switching off for Mané’s goal took the shine off a little bit.

James Tomkins - 7 - Good outing at the back and an even better goal. He darted his header in from the corner, but he also looked commanding at the back.

Mamadou Sakho - 7 - Sakho was typically Sakho here but he played well. There were questions over whether he fouled Salah in the box but replays show it was likely the correct call.

Patrick van Aanholt - 6 - He switched off at some crucial stages when Milner got forward down his side. Costly miscommunication for one of Liverpool’s chances.

Luka Milivojevic - 7 - His corner led to Tomkins’ goal and the equaliser. Passing was pretty accurate and anchored Palace’s midfield well.

Cheikhou Kouyaté - 6 - Other than a great run and pass which threatened to hurt Liverpool again, there’s not much else to highlight. Replaced by Schlupp.

James McArthur - 6 - Had a job and stuck to it. Energetic and gave a good account, as per.

Andros Townsend - 8 - Palace’s best player in the game? Took the opener brilliantly and harmed the hosts with his running at speed when he had the chance.

Wilfried Zaha - 6 - Very good assist for Townsend’s opener but began to fade out the game as it wore on. Did have a resurgence.

Jordan Ayew - 6 - Hodgson will be pleased with his performance, one should think. Despite the needless booking he did provide Palace the outlet they needed against a tough opponent.
