Charlton’s latest additions have elevated the squad to new heights according to Darren Pratley.

Jonny Williams, Chris Maxwell and Ben Purrington’s arrival at The Valley this month can do nothing but aid their push for promotion the midfielder said.

Following Charlton’s 3-0 win at Shrewsbury on Saturday where Pratley got on the scoresheet, the 33-year-old admitted he was impressed by the quality of the new recruits.

“I’m surprised he came down to league one to be honest with the quality he’s got,” Pratley said of Williams.

“He’s a good player, I’ve played a few games against him in my career.

“I think this is a perfect club for him, with the manager, he lets all the young players go out and express themselves and the way we play is perfect for him.

“He’ll be a brilliant singing.”

Purrington’s loan arrival from Rotherham United last week went someway to fill the void at left-back whilst Lewis Page recovers from injury.

Pratley believes the addition was necessary to give Bowyer the tools required to sustain a real attempt at automatic promotion.

“We’ve got a good team spirit.

“We have a lot of players out injured, players not travelled, on the bench, but we’ve a good squad here.

“Every single one can play in the first team and wouldn’t make it weaker.

“Ben (Purrington) did well, he’s a good player, and now we’ve two left backs with Lewis Page not far away from coming back, so we’ve got cover in all the positions.

“It’ll be hard balancing it and keeping everyone happy but we're all together and hopefully pushing in the right direction and setting out to do what we want to do.”
