Even with injuries to Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham, the 23-year-old has seen game time at Selhurst Park limited to mainly cup appearances or coming on from the subs bench.

With Roy Hodgson yet to have the confidence to start the target man, preferring to go with Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha as a pairing, chances to impress are dwindling especially with Benteke and Wickham both edging closer to a return.

As the January window is soon to be open, Sorloth could find himself sent out on loan to get the minutes needed to find some form, or to get used to the England game.

The ironic thing for the Dane is that he’s not played all that poorly when called upon. More often than not he’s been sent on with Palace chasing the game. Not the ideal scenario for a young man not used to the speed of England’s top flight.

With Palace deep in a relegation battle however, giving time to a striker to find their feet is something the Eagles do not have, they need goals, they need wins.
