Roy Hodgson says the “significant mouse problem” which forced the club’s kitchen to close has had no effect on his side's preparations ahead of their visit to West Ham.

The kitchen has since re-opened at the club’s Beckenham Base and the Bromley Council Food Safety Team said the situation had “significantly improved” in a follow up inspection.

“To be honest I’d forgotten about it,” said Hodgson.

“It was a one-day event. We got food in from the outside so our food was served exactly the same way. The food was spot on the next day.

“We’ve spent a lot of money revamping the whole area, the facilities are really god. It was a surprise but certainly no disruption.”

Crystal Palace go in to Saturday’s game at the Olympic Stadium on the back of a 3-1 defeat at Brighton mid-week and Hodgson says he’s eager to re-pay the fans for the derby defeat.

“All the fans care so when you don’t give them the result they want, especially in an important game you feel like you’ve let them down.

“Up to the Brighton game our performances been good. So that game came as an unpleasant cold shower where we didn’t play as well as we have.

“But we don’t allow that to affect our thoughts and we start with a clean slate against West Ham.”

With the Hammers in 13th and Palace in 15th, Hodgson conceded that both clubs are lower down in the league than their performances deserve. The Palace manager

“We’ve been playing better than the table says. But many teams will say that so I don’t like to go too much down that route. Form the start of the season we’ve played some good football.

“I don’t think we lack quality, but I accept the criticism that we haven’t been as good at converting some of the opportunities we’ve created.

“We don’t lack quality.”

Palace travel to West Ham with no fresh injury concerns.
