A dozen Croydon Harriers were in action at the English Schools Championships in Gateshead last weekend.

Kayla Bowley won the junior girl’s 200m in 24.91 seconds, a new club record to clinch gold. In the same event, Rommell Glave won the inter boys’ category in 22.00secs to also top the podium.

Marcia Sey glided to victory in the junior girls’ 75m hurdles in 11.06secs.

Ashleigh Clarke was the club’s fourth individual medal winner, notching bronze in the senior girls’ 100m in 12.35secs.

Three-time English schools medallist Sophie Elliss just missed out on the podium, placing fourth in the senior girls’ 100m hurdles in 14.46secs.

Further top eight finishes came courtesy of Ola (inter girls’ triple jump, eighth), Emmanuel Thomas (inter boys’ pole vault, sixth) and Tosin Salami (inter girls’ 100m, seventh).

Also in action for Surrey were Jude Russell (junior boys’ 80m hurdles, 11.83secs), Lekan Ogunlana (senior boys’ high jump, 1.94m), Rhiannon Gayle (inter girls’ 300m, 42.53secs) and Toni Bryan (junior girls’ 100m, 12.66secs).
