Two young siblings are joining Zoe Wanamaker and Robert Lindsay's family this Christmas in the BBC One series, My Family.

Tayler Marshall, 10, from All Saints Road in Sutton, has been appearing in the show since he was six and his seven-year-old sister Phoebe is now set to follow in his footsteps.

Tayler originally auditioned for a part as an extra after being spotted by casting directors who live next door.

He did not get the part, but was instead offered a role as Kenzo, the grandson of Ben and Susan Harper, played by Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker respectively.

His mum, Terri, said: “They were impressed by the way he was able to learn all his lines off by heart.

“Sometimes he will get it in the first take whereas it might take Zoe Wanamaker two or three takes, which is quite funny.

“He loves doing it and we are just waiting to hear if there will be another series.”

This Christmas Eve, Tayler's sister will also make an appearance in the show's Christmas special. She plays a scene with Lindsay as a little girl who does not believe in Father Christmas.

Mrs Marshall said: “They have been using the clip of Phoebe to preview the show and she is already getting a lot of people coming up to her and saying they have seen her on television.

"She loves all the attention.

"She has now signed up to the same agent as Tayler."

Mrs Marshall is keen to ensure her children - who are both at All Saints Benhilton primary school - keep their feet on the ground and said she has no plans to send either sibling to stage school.

She said: “Tayler's first choice is Greenshaw High School. He is a down to earth boy and will fit in best in a down to earth school.

“He loves acting but he is not so into dancing or singing. He would prefer a game of football I think.

“As long as they are both comfortable with what they are doing then I am happy. The day either of them says they don't want to do it, they won't do it any more.”

The My Family Christmas special will be shown on BBC One at 8.30pm tonight, Christmas Eve.
