A market trader has been taken to hospital after receiving an electric shock at Sutton High Street Market.
It is believed the market's power points had been replaced as part of the High Street regeneration and shortly after the work was completed some of the fuses started tripping off.
On the morning of Tuesday, October 26, a fruit and veg seller was connecting power to his stall when he got an electric shock and was taken to hospital.
The market’s electricity was subsequently cut off.
One trader said: “We are still in the dark and having to close the market earlier than usual.
“This is having an effect on business. The people who sell Christmas lights can't display them and the people who sell fruit and vegetables have been asked to use battery-operated weighing machines.”
Dave Garioch, Sutton Council’s corporate health and safety manager, said: “We take health and safety issues very seriously and a detailed investigation is underway.”
