A flat has been left damaged after a fire in New Cross.

Firefighters were called to Arbuthnot Road shortly after 11.50am yesterday (May 22).

The Brigade tackled the fire on the first floor of a mid-terraced house.

A part of a four-roomed flat was damaged by the blaze.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was under control shortly after 12.50pm.

Fire crews from New Cross, Greenwich, Deptford, and Old Kent Road stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire in a flat in Arbuthnot Road, New Cross.

“Part of a four-roomed flat on the first floor of a mid-terraced house was damaged by fire.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

"The Brigade was called at 11.52am and the fire was under control by 12.52pm.

“Fire crews from New Cross, Greenwich, Deptford and Old Kent Road stations were at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
