Dancers are preparing to celebrate International Women’s Day by putting on a flash mob performance in Wimbledon.

This International Women’s Day (Tuesday 8), 10 professional dancers will be taking part in a flash mob known as Sisterhood.

Sisterhood embraces themes such as the equal representation for women in business and politics.

The first performance will be at 12.30pm in two locations near Centre Court Shopping Centre in Wimbledon – there will be a second run of the dance at 2pm and 3pm.

In part one, the dancers will perform choreography inspired by smashing glass ceilings, self-care, and self-confidence.

Part two looks at positive and negative relationships set to the words of Michelle Obama – “the measure of any society is how it treats its women and girls”.

In part three, the dance moves are inspired by American aviator and pioneer Amelia Earhart, Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, Polish scientist Marie Curie and American civil rights activist Rosa Parks.

Sisterhood also features some guest baby dolls in slings in a nod for more accessible childcare, and respect for the role of parents.

Award winning Combination Dance created Sisterhood - commissioned by Victoria, Westminster and Whitehall business improvement districts and Centre Court Shopping Centre, Wimbledon.
