A viral TikTok influencer has thanked St George’s hospital in south London for new a antiviral Covid treatment.

Katie Rixon-Waller, 19, was among the first patients in the UK to receive the new Sotrovimab treatment when St George’s in Tooting began offering it in December.

The treatment is a monoclonal antibody infusion which allows people who test positive for Covid-19 and are immunosuppressed to be referred by their GP for treatment at St George’s.

Since being approved for use in December, the NHS has now helped over 10,000 patients with these new antibody Covid treatments.

Katie, who has long-term health condition Crohn’s disease which causes her to be immunosuppressed, said: “I received a phone call explaining that I was eligible for the Covid-19 anti-viral treatment and on the same day, a few hours later, I was on my way to St George's.
