PINT-size pumpkin pickers are being invited to grab a mini wheelbarrow and explore a giant new patch which has sprung up in York.

The Web Adventure Park has launched its Web’oween Festival and added pick-your-own pumpkins to its offering, with 5,000 specimens of all shapes and sizes to choose from.

The family attraction in Wigginton Road has ensured the terrain is suitable for prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs to make the fun experience inclusive.

It has also installed a new ride beside the patch to add to the appeal.

Park owner Janice Dunphy said the festival promised to be spooktacular, but not scary, with Halloween characters roaming throughout the park.

“We wanted to offer a venue where children could have fun choosing their very own pumpkin. We have loads of little wheelbarrows so they can even pick and push their own.

“We have also installed a pathway which will allow those in wheelchairs or with prams and buggies, who are normally unable, to pumpkin pick in a field. We don’t want anyone watching from the sidelines.

“We have just put in a new ride beside the patch, which is a great way to see the pumpkins and scarecrows as you swing over the field.”

Families will also be able to enjoy indoor play, an entertainment marquee with Dazzling Darren offering three Halloween shows, Jurassic mini golf, unlimited rides on fairground favourites, against a backdrop of twinkling lights.

Rides include the double carousel, Miami, Apple Coaster, Formula, Sizzler, Balloons, tea cups, Crazy Bulls, Helterskelter, Pony Express and the new Waveswinger, subject to availability.

“This is the first time we have done this and it’s the start of many extras and events at the park. We then have three weeks to build an amazing Christmas home for Father Christmas, his elves and real reindeer. This will be a big project and it will be all hands on deck again.”
