Two people have been arrested after a man was taken to hospital in a serious condition following a reported shooting in Morden this afternoon (June 22).

Eyewitnesses reported seeing several ambulances and police cars parked in the vicinity of the roundabout between Central Road and Morden Hall Road this afternoon.

But Met Police have since confirmed a shooting was reported at the junction between Central Road and Abbotsbury Road shortly after 2pm.

A Met Police statement read: "A man was found at the location with gunshot injuries.

"He has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"His next of kin have been informed.

"Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Wimbledon Times:

"A crime scene is in place.

"Enquiries continue."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed paramedics also attended.

A spokesperson added: “We were called at 2.04pm today (22 June) to reports of an incident on Morden Hall Road, Morden

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, two medics in cars and an incident response officer.

"We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre."
