The A24 is closed in both directions due to a burst water main in the Sutton Common Road area.

It comes after SES Water took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to announce that a burst water main in Morden had caused water supplies to be shut off at 30 properties.

The water utility company have since announced that the A24 will remain closed as repairs will take a few days.

In a statement on their website, SES Water said: "Our customers in the Sutton Common Road area in Morden may be experiencing low pressure or water supply issues due to a burst main.

"Our team is currently working as quickly as they can to resolve the issue, but it is a complex repair and we'll still be there until later this evening.

"A bottled water station is available to those who need to collect some but if this is difficult for you please contact us and we'll help.

"The A24 will remain shut in both directions between Sutton Common Road and Hill Top as the burst has badly damaged the road and it will take a few days to repair this fully.

"We are really sorry for the inconvenience being caused and are doing all we can to get things back to normal as quickly as we can."
