A man has died after reports of a casualty at South Wimbledon Station yesterday afternoon.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to reports of an incident on the Northern Line shortly after 12pm on Monday, April 5.

Despite emergency services best efforts, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for BTP said: "British Transport Police were called to South Wimbledon Underground station at 12.12 pm on Monday 5 April following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.10 pm yesterday (5 April) to reports of an incident at South Wimbledon station.

"We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and our hazardous area response teams. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

"Sadly, a person died at the scene."
