The latest information relating to Covid-19 in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has now been updated.

There has been one new hospital death recorded in today's figures, involving a patient testing positive for Covid-19.

The total number of Covid-related deaths at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has now risen to at 191, while at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust it remains at 61.

The combined number of Covid-19 deaths in total in Cornwall's hospitals since the start of the pandemic is now 252.

The overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – is now at 456 deaths in the 28 days after a positive test, including three in today's figures.

The number of deaths simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate has risen to 502, with 29 extra registered in the week leading up to February 19, the most recent data given. This figure is updated weekly on a Tuesday.

Nationally a further 279 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 83,529.

Patients were aged between 17 and 102 years old. All except 11 – aged 17 to 89 years old – had known underlying health conditions and their families have been informed.

The date of the deaths ranged from December 3, 2020 to March 1, 2021, with the majority being on or after February 21.

Of those, 12 were in the South West.

The overall UK figures show 343 more people to have died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

This takes the total number of UK deaths within 28 days to 123,296. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

As of 4pm today (Tuesday, March 2) there have been 12 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the previous 24 hours. It follows two days in a row that the number had dropped to single figures.

The total number of cases in the local authority area since the start of the pandemic is now 13,671.

The seven-day rolling total of cases was 144 cases recorded in the seven days leading up to February 24. Data from the most recent five days is not shown due to being incomplete.

This represents a weekly rate of 25.2 cases per 100,000 people.

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK has increased by 6,391 in 24 hours.

This takes the total to 4,188,400 nationally since the start of the pandemic.

As of today (Tuesday, March 2) 20,478,619 people in the UK had received their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 844,098 people had their second dose.
