A couple who "batch cooked too many meals" has teamed up with the community to continue helping families in Covid-19.

Zak Webster and his wife Annie, from Sutton, originally offered some of their 'meal prep' to those less fortunate with no intention of it becoming a major project.

In December, the husband and wife duo offered their extra meals to residents online and decided to continue after more than thirty people requested a meal.

Since then, the couple has cooked over 1500 meals including pasta dishes, curries, chilli con carne and more.

"We have decided to continue as it is very clear the there are many people throughout the Merton area that are in crisis," said Zak.

After putting a call out on social media, Zak received a generous response and has since teamed up with another resident to continue the scheme.

"David Bishop is now on board to help and this is a 50/50 venture by us both," he said.

"David has been incredibly generous with his time and has made a real difference in the amount of people we can now reach.

"We have also been able to start delivering bulk amount of meals to a few schools in the area which means more children are fed.

Wimbledon Times:

"We also have a couple of regular drivers Olga and Tony. Who have been a great help, and with there support we have hundreds of meals being delivered every week.

"A free meal is a very small but essential part of every day life and no one should go hungry.

"If people want to get involved it really is all about the fundraising at the moment as the more we raise the more we can make."
