A NEW rapid test centre has opened in Morden Assembly Hall this week.
The site, located on Tudor Drive, will only be available for residents who do not display coronavirus symptoms.
Testing for all residents will be at Morden Assembly Hall in the first weeks, with the aim of additional sites to be added throughout January.
Lateral flow tests can detect the presence of Covid-19 and allows the government to track the virus earlier to prevent the spread of infection.
It involves a swab of the nose and throat to collect a sample, which is then inserted into a tube of liquid for a short time. Drops of liquid are added to the test strip (lateral flow device) and present results after around 30-minutes.
For key workers, volunteers and carers, testing will be carried out by a network of up to 40 community pharmacies.
