Britain is set for "one last blast of Summer" as parts of the UK are predicted to reach 31C degrees.

Forecasters say the UK will see a divide in weather, with the north-facing torrential rain while the south enjoys sizzling heat over the next few days.

The tropical heat follows on from an August heatwave which saw temperatures top 34C  for six days in a row last month.

Temperatures are predicted to reach 30C in London and South East England on Monday- with hot weather continuing to Tuesday, particularly in eastern parts.

The last blast of temperatures will arrive in line with the government's latest restriction- preventing groups larger than six from meeting up from Monday.

Met Office forecaster Bonnie Diamond said that sizzling temperatures will be caused by a “tropical continental air pushing up from a southerly direction in combination with light winds.”

She added: "It's definitely feels like one last blast of summer even though we are, meteorologically speaking, in autumn."

The middle of next week will see temperatures drop back to normal levels for this time of year.
