A PEDESTRIAN suffered serious injuries in a town centre car crash.
The woman was walking along Station Street in Eastbourne shortly after noon on Friday when she was hit by the car.
Police attended the scene and arrested a man suspected of “driving under the influence of a specified drug over a specified limit”.
The woman was taken to Conquest Hospital in St Leonards for treatment.
A Sussex Police spokesman said “her injuries are serious but not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening”.
He said: “A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of a specified drug over a specified limit, and on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody at this time.”
