Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 30s was stabbed in Mitcham.

Police were first called to reports of an assault in Upper Green East at around 17.30 pm on July 20.

Officers attended but there was no trace of the victim.

A short time later, police were called to a hospital, where the victim self-presented himself with stab injuries.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "Detectives would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the stabbing.

"The assault spilled out on to a busy road, and was close to a parade of shops.

" It would it have been witnessed by a large number of people.

"Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone who may have captured footage of the assault on dash cam or mobile phone.

"He remains in hospital in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."
