The Met Police in Sutton are appealing for help with an investigation after a dog was hit by a moped in Carshalton.

Syd, an 11-year-old dog whose owner lives in the area, was hit by a moped on Peterborough Road yesterday "around 4.10pm" according to police, who posted a short appeal to Twitter.

They said that the moped was "out of control" when it hit Syd and that they were now looking for two white males who were reportedly involved.

"Appeal 15/06/20 approx 4:10PM PETERBOROUGH RD, #CARSAHLTON poor 11yr old Syd the dog was hit by an out of control moped.

"Suspects described as 2 white males on a dark moped both in dark clothing, if you have any information please contact SNMailbox.WandleValleySNT@met.police.uk."

The police account also posted two photos of Syd, who seemed to have sustained injuries to his head and ears as a result of the crash.

11 years old is considered advanced in years for most dogs.

Taking the traditional "dog years" maxim that equates one year in the life of a dog to seven years in the life of the human life, Syd would be the equivalent of 77 years old.
