Greenwich Council is set to offer unprecedented access to its senior members amid the coronavirus pandemic with a series of question-and-answers sessions to be streamed live online.
Council leader Dan Thorpe will join cabinet members to answer questions from the public on the authority’s YouTube channel across four one-hour sessions.
The first session is set to be held at 1pm on Wednesday, June 3, and will include Cllr Denise Scott-McDonald (deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and skills) and Cllr Chris Kirby (finance and resources).
Council leader Danny Thorpe said the sessions were an opportunity for residents to speak up about how they’d like the borough to look post-Covid.
“The coronavirus pandemic has touched every aspect of the council’s work, and the new Cabinet will help us shape our services as the borough recovers,” he said.
“Businesses will need support to get back on their feet, schools will reopen for children who have been stuck at home for months, our social care services will help vulnerable residents, and our leisure centres and libraries will reopen.
“It’s clear that many services will not be the same, and we want residents to tell us how we could do things differently in a post-coronavirus world.”
Willing viewers can watch by heading to the Royal Greenwich Youtube channel.
Those wanting to submit a question van do so by emailing in advance askgreenwich@royalgreenwich.gov.uk, tweeting with the hashtag #AskGreenwich or adding a comment on the live stream on Youtube.
