THREE more coronavirus deaths have been reported in hospitals run by Sussex healthcare trusts.

This brings the total number of deaths in the county to 577 since the outbreak began.

The figures refer to hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 and do not include care home deaths.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust reported one fatality, taking the total number at the trust to 132.

Two deaths were also reported by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, bringing their total to 243.

The total for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust remained the same at 81. Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust also reported no new fatalities, and the total number stands at 107.

The figure for Sussex Community Foundation trust also remained the same at 15.

Nationally there were 113 further deaths, bringing the UK toll to 38,489. There were 1,936 more cases confirmed, bringing the total number across the UK to 274,762.

In Brighton and Hove no new cases were reported, with the total at 440. Two more cases were confirmed in East Sussex, bringing the total to 716. Five more cases were confirmed in West Sussex, where the total is 1,325.
