A Catford bakery was nearly destroyed by fire on bank holiday Monday.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the Percy Ingle, on Rushey Green, at 6.30am.
Most of the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire.
One person left the building before the Brigade arrived and a further two people on the second floor left the property.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The alarm was raised by a resident from an above flat who saw smoke passing his kitchen window and coming through his floor.
Fire crews from Forest Hill, Lewisham, Greenwich and Lee Green fire stations attended the scene, bringing the incident under control by 7.50pm.
Investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental and involved a fridge freezer.
