A man has been arrested in Morden after a mass police chase down Morden Hall Road involving police dogs, officers and a helicopter.

Police carried out a pursuit after a grey BMW failed to stop upon request, shortly after 4.37 pm on May 18.

The suspect fled the vehicle after a collision with a Toyota Prius and was reportedly seen sprinting across Morden Hall Roundabout onto St Helier Avenue.

The National Police Air Service and the Met’s Police Dog Unit attended and searched the area.

An officer from the Police Dog Unit detained a man aged in his 20s in Arbuthnot Road at around 5.02 pm.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "SM4 officers attempted to stop a BMW.

"The vehicle failed to stop and officers began an authorised pursuit.

"The BMW was subsequently in collision with a Toyota Prius.

"There were no serious injuries to the Toyota driver and the BMW driver fled the scene on foot.

"A search was conducted of the area and a man was detained.

"He was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, possession of drugs and being wanted on warrant. "
