Kew Police are advising visitors of Kew and Kew Gardens to stay away from the area '"unless essential" in a bid to encourage social distancing.
A statement posted online by Kew Police said: "Please do not travel to Kew unless essential @kewgardens is closed to the public.
"People are coming off the tube to realise it’s closed then hanging around in groups on our open spaces and other private communal gardens.
"Please don’t do this."
The news comes following yesterday's [March 23] decision by the Prime Minister’s to enforce social distancing.
At present Kew Gardens has been closed until further notice in a nationwide effort to reduce the spread of coronavirus which has already claimed 148 lives in London.
