Thameslink and Southern Rail passengers are being advised to expect delays, cancellations and disruption to services this weekend thanks to storm Ciara.
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for very strong winds that will arrive in the north of England on the evening of February 8, and is expected to carry onto February 9 across the rest of the UK.
Storm Ciara is expected to bring wind speeds of up to 85mph together with localised heavy rain.
This means that strong winds can blow debris onto the tracks, including trees and other forms of vegetation, that delays trains while the line is cleared.
There is also potential that overhead power lines can also be damaged which means that Network Rail may need to impose speed restrictions on some lines for safety reasons.
