Debenhams in Wimbledon has closed once and for all.

January 19 marked the Centre Court store's final day of trading, eight months after the department store chain entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement.

Pictures captured from inside the shop on Sunday show empty shelves, reduced price posters and mannequins with nothing to model.

A letter was issued on Monday on behalf of Debenhams and addressed customers and former staff alike.

"On Sunday 19th January, Debenhams closed its doors in Wimbledon for the last time," the letter read.

"We would like to thank all our customers for your support over the years.

"Whilst this store has now closed, Debenhams remains open for business.

"Your nearest store is in Sutton or you can always shop with us online at www.Debenhams.com."

Wimbledon wasn't the only south-west London borough to see one of the stores shut either.

A week earlier the stores in Wandsworth and Walton also closed for the final time.

"We would also like to thank the local team and our colleagues in the store, who have continued to deliver great service despite the news of the store closure," the open letter continued.

"Once again we would like to thank everyone who has shopped with us in Wimbledon since 1992 and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to you at any of our stores around the country in the future."
