The family of a pensioner killed less than a week before Christmas have paid tribute to him.

Police were called to Streatham Road at 3.42pm on Friday, December 20 to deal with a serious crash

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended to the scene where two cars had collided.

Charles Burcombe, 81, had suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His daughter, Sophie Burcombe told the Sutton Guardian: "We were so devastated to lose him five days before Christmas.

"He was a truly amazing person that never put himself first and was hard working up until the day he died."

She said her father lived in Oldfields Road and knew a lot of people in and around Sutton.

Asked what she will miss most about him she said: "Laughing and joking with his two grandsons who he adored.

"We will all miss him very much."

Following the crash, another man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police have been contacted for an update on the arrest but anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage is asked to call police on 101 quoting ref CAD 5043/20 Dec.
