A man who died following a car crash in Oxshott last week has been identified as 49-year-old billionaire Dmitry Obretetsky, according to Russian media.

Surrey Police confirmed on Wednesday (December 4), that a dog walker in his 40s had died following the crash in Warren Lane on Monday, November 25.

There has been no official confirmation at this stage from Surrey Police of the victim's identity.

Three vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash, which was reported at around 4.45pm and is said to have involved three vehicles as well as the now deceased victim.

A friend of Mr Obretetsky, Pavel Borovkov, was quoted by a Russian news service saying that Obretetsky had lived in Britain for a long time, but regularly returned to Russian on business.

During the interview, he appeared to imply the crash may not have been accidental, saying: “You know, people drive cars very carefully in (Britain).

“I don’t exclude that he was specially knocked down.”

Mr Obretetsky’s dog was also killed in the collision.

Surrey Police continues to investigate the case, but has not confirmed any suspicious circumstances at this stage.
