Several people have been hurt and footage online appears to show a man being shot by police amid a major police incident at London Bridge.

Terrified eye-witnesses described 'real panic setting in' at the scene just a few hundred yards from where 11 people were killed in the Borough Market terror attack two years.

London Ambulance Service has declared a "major incident" and said they had several crews at the scene.

Bomb Squad vans were among a fleet of emergency service vehicles at the scene.

Police were called just before 2pm to reports of stabbing near London Bridge, and Scotland Yard confirmed that a man had been detained.

Timothy Johnson tweeted: "Police shouting for everyone to move away. Real panic setting in at London Bridge. Rumours of a shooting."

Lauren tweeted: "A man running around with a knife and been shot in London Bridge outside my office. Just witnessed with my own eyes."

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 1.58pm to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge.

"Emergency services attended, including officers from the Met and City of London Police.

"A man has been detained by police. We believe a number of people have been injured."

City of London Police urged people to "avoid" the Londion Bridge area.

A London Ambulance Serivce spokesman said: "We have now declared a major incident and have a number of crews at the scene in London Bridge.

We will share more information as soon as we have it."
