A person has been hit by a train between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction, with all lines between the two stations currently blocked.

Bromley officers are assisting the British Transport Police on the tracks at Penge West station, and major disruption is expected across the Southern and Thameslink rail network until 3pm.

Several Southern routes are affected, including London Bridge to Norwood Junction, London Bridge to Caterham, and the London Overground between Highbury and Islington and West Croydon and Crystal Palace.

All lines between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction will be blocked until at least 11am, and Anerley and Penge West stations are also not being served by Southern trains whilst the disruption continues.

National Rail said emergency services and Network Rail operatives are currently dealing with the delicate situation, which is believed to have happened around 7am.
