A MUM of five, with a “heart of gold” has died following a battle with cervical cancer.

Amanda Dawson, 32, was initially diagnosed in August 2018 after being in and out of hospital for a few months.

The former Smithills pupil died on Sunday night after being rushed to hospital.

Her mum Elaine Pattison, who was by her side, said: “She was just kind hearted to people. She’d help anyone

“She loved life and she loved partying but more than anything, she loved her kids and made sure they had everything they wanted.”

“The younger children don’t really understand what’s happening. I don’t think it’s fully sunk in yet. Her 12-year-old girl is absolutely devastated though.

“It’s been so traumatic. She was loved to bits — we were best friends.

“Whenever I was down she was there for me.”

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy shrunk Amanda’s tumour from 13cm to 3cm so it was believed she was on the mend.

However recently, she got lymphoedema and had problems walking due to swelling in her legs.

One of Amanda’s best friends has set up a Go Fund Me page to help with funeral costs.

Robyn Campbell described Amanda as a “loving, caring, devoted mother with a heart of gold. who helped so many people and would do anything for anyone.”

She added: “We just want to make the day as special as possible for her children and for her memory and give her the best send off we can and she deserves."

Mym Elaine said she could not thank Robyn enough for setting up the page.

“Robyn has been absolutely fantastic,” she added.

“She knew Amanda for 21 years and they were so close. I don’t know what I’d have done without her.
