Nonsuch Park in Epsom and Ewell was awarded a prestigious Silver Gilt Award at the annual South and South East in Bloom Awards.

Nonsuch Park scooped the gong for the third year running as it swept the Heritage Garden/Estate of the Year category yet again.

For this year's Awards, Nonsuch Park achieved its highest score, with 154 marks out of a possible 169.

Participants in the Award scheme are asked to focus on three main areas that Nonsuch Park placed well on, namely:

• Horticultural achievement

• Environmental responsibility

• Community participation

Councillor Barry Nash, Chair of Epsom and Ewell Borough Council (EEBC)'s Community and Wellbeing Committee chose to praise the volunteer groups who help keep the park maintained and attractive year-round.

"The Award is a testament to the untiring work and dedication of our three main volunteer groups — The Friends of Nonsuch, The Nonsuch Voles and Nonsuch Watch, and the efforts of our parks team in maintaining and preserving the natural and physical history of the park," Cllr Nash said.

"The park achieved impressive scores in every area of the judging criteria. Congratulations and well done to all involved."

The South and South East in Bloom campaign is the largest horticultural campaign in the region and involves hundreds of communities each year.

The South and South East in Bloom regional campaign encourages county, district, city, borough, town and parish councils, communities, residents and businesses to get involved and work together to improve the environment locally.
