A new dermatology clinic has opened in Raynes Park and it is hoped that cancer patients will be the biggest beneficiaries.

Stratum Clinics in Lambton Road will offer a "state-of-the-art facility" where skin cancer treatment and mole checks will be under one roof.

Lead consultant dermatologist, Dr Janakan Natkunarajah said: “Our clinic has been designed to deliver a full patient pathway from investigation, diagnosis and treatment, so patients shouldn't need to go anywhere else.

"Too often skincare patients are passed from pillar to post and we think that is unhelpful.

“As a centre of excellence we have a number of consultants specialising in all areas of dermatology."

The doctor said by integrating everything under one roof that it would be less disruptive for the patient.

"They can see the same dermatologist and get immediate access to treatment if that is required," he added.

“One of our key focus areas is Mohs micrographic surgery which is considered the most effective technique for treating the two most common types of skin cancer.”

Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond attended a launch reception and took a guided tour of the clinic

He said: “It’s an impressive facility and will be a great asset for the community.

"Providing everything under one roof helps to simplify the treatment process for patients and this is invaluable with stressful conditions such as skin cancer.”
