Millwall’s defeat to QPR was ‘gutting’ says midfielder Ben Thompson.

Nahki Wells struck twice at The Den in spells where Millwall will they were on the ascendancy.

The second, a gift from goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowksi moments after Shaun Hutchinson’s equaliser in the 71st minute, proved the difference and left Thomspon crest-fallen.

“It hurts,” the despondent midfielder said.

“It’s gutting, at 1-1 we were strong and looked threatening.

“We don’t come here to lose games, we want and need points.

“As a team we weren’t the best, myself included, but we need to push on, we’ve had a couple of bad results but we need to bounce back now, get to grips with the Championship and push on.

“It’s crucial to get points early on in the season to set us up, but we’ve had a few bad results, some haven’t gone our way, but we’ve got a great set of boys, a caring bunch, we give everything on the pitch, in training and match day.

“Obviously results haven’t gone our way and something needs to change, hopefully the next few weeks we can get more points.”

Despite Bialkowski’s miss-judged pass allowing Wells to tap home for the win, Thompson was quick to defend the on-loan Ipswich Town goalkeeper.

“Bart (Bialkowksi) will save us more times than cost us this season,” he continued.

“He’ll take it on the chin and move on, he’s a great keeper and everyone knows that but it’s a tough one to take for him.”

Millwall travel to bottom of the league Huddersfield Town next Saturday.
