Police have warned people in Mitcham to be wary of their surroundings after a string of robberies and attempted robberies.
The Met took to Twitter to say that the items being targeted appear to be gold chains and jewellery.
"We’re doing what we can to tackle this, but if you're in the area, please take care to conceal your valuables where possible," the post added.
Asked if there was any more detail, they revealed two particular cases which could be linked.
"The robbery took place on August 17 in London Road, Mitcham and a woman's 24 carat gold necklace was stolen," the Met added.
"Just over a week earlier on August 8, there was an attempted robbery of a gold necklace on Crusoe Road.
"Luckily the victim had the necklace pinned to her sari, so it was unsuccessful."
The suspect in both of these offences was described as a white man in his 20s, wearing a matching grey tracksuit.
