Residents in Rossendale Valley are currently without water and the town centre has flooded.

The issue is affecting homes in the BL0 postcode area.

United Utilities reported the water pressure issue online, with a statement: "We’re currently investigating an issue in your area which may mean you have no water or it’s coming out your tap as a trickle."

On the floods they added: "A leak at the junction of Bridge Street and Market Place affecting customers in BL0 has been spotted and reported to us.

"Our leakage engineers should be on site as soon as possible. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have your taps flowing again very soon."

Bistro cafe Batisserie 2 is among some of the town centre shops that has had to close early due to the floods.

Steve Pollitt, from Ramsbottom, said he was worried families with young children would struggle while the water was not working.

He said: "I have now water at all at the moment.

"I tried all the taps but I have nothing.

"I don't know what it is, I just hope it doesn't badly affect families with children too much as they won't be able to wash their babies.

"Hopefully the matter will be sorted out soon."
