A woman killed after being hit by a lorry in Clapham has been named by police.

Police were called to Wandsworth Road at the junction with Silverthorne Road at 3.12pm on Thursday, July 4 following reports of a crash.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found the victim suffering from critical injuries after being hit by the lorry. She sadly died at the scene a short time later.

Officers have today named the victim as Italian national, Giovanna Cappielloo, 29, who was a student and also worked as a waitress. Her next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries. Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Steve Cannings of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “It is vital that we put together an accurate picture of events surrounding this tragic incident.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage or who witnessed the incident first hand.”
