Cardiff manager comments suggest Dalman's Charlton takeover talks are over

The Bluebird’s manager insisted it was vital for Dalman, believed to be in talks over a possible £33million takeover of the Addicks, stay with South Wales club.

It was thought businessman Dalman was keen to become an owner in his own right after six years working under owner Vincent Tan, but Warnock revealed that after talks with the Cypriot, he believes he will stay with City.

"I've been aware of the situation before the stories came out," Warnock told Wales Online.

"He's one of, if not the, best chairmen I've worked with.

"I've spoken to him a great deal over the last six weeks to seek assurances and he's assured me he wants to give it a go and try and help me get another promotion.”

News broke last week that Dalman and Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet were in ‘advanced discussions’ over the possibility of a takeover but it seems talks have stalled.

Warnock, who achieved promotion with Cardiff to the Premiership under Dalman two seasons ago before being relegated to the Championship, went on to praise the relationship the pair have.

“He's really supportive of everything I do,” he continued.

"It's absolutely vital (he stays). I think it would be very difficult for me to do the job without him.

"He knows everything about the background and he deals with Vincent and Ken.

"He's not just a man about football.

"He's got so much experience in so many fields and that's what we need as a football club.

"We need that experience there.

"He's already proven how supportive he is.

"It's no coincidence that we've had a great couple of years since we've been together and we want to give it another shot this year."

Despite Warnock’s comments seemingly ruling out Dalman from taking over the Addicks, the Charlton owner Duchatelet insists he is still keen to sell the club and it was this eagerness as to why he is reluctant to release any substantial funds to manager Lee Bowyer for transfers.
