A court official has disclosed the name of the man charged with setting two homeless men on fire in central Croydon.

Montel Nowhia-Job, 22, of Vanguard Close in Croydon, has been charged with two counts of attempted GBH with intent, and two counts of arson with intent, a court official said.

The victims were attacked in George Street and Surrey Street in the early hours of Monday and had to be treated for minor burns, police said.

Scotland Yard said their sleeping bags or other property were set alight.

The force added that it believes others may have been targeted and have appealed for other victims or witnesses to come forward.

A 22-year-old man and 17-year-old girl were arrested on Wednesday morning.

He was remanded in custody after appearing at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Thursday, and is next due to appear at Croydon Crown Court on July 11.

The girl was bailed pending further inquiries.
