A new support group helping people suffering with diabetes will be launched later this month.

The Edmonton Diabetes UK Voluntary Group is aimed at connecting people suffering from diabetes in Edmond and further afield in Enfield. The group will be able to meet regularly and share their stories, welcoming a range of speakers over the months.

The group will be led by resident Liz Mensah with the aim of creating a healthier Edmonton where everyone is welcome. She said: “I want to educate people and raise awareness about diabetes, to help minimise the isolation people can feel. Edmonton is a very diverse area and we want to attract people from all the communities.”

The group will be launched on Thursday, June 13th, at 7 pm, with a meeting at the Salvation Army Centre, 339 Forest Street, N9 DNU.

Roz Rosenblatt, Head of London for Diabetes UK, recognises the difficulties of living with diabetes. He said: “Groups such as the new Edmonton group help people find a balance between living their lives and keeping in good health.”
