Police are appealing for information after a football team’s coach was damaged after Southend's defeat to Wimbledon on Saturday..

Officers received reports at around 5.25pm on Saturday, March 16, that AFC Wimbledon’s supporters' coach had an object thrown at it in Victoria Avenue.

The coach had just left Southend United’s football stadium, Roots Hall, when the incident happened. One of the windows was smashed.

Police received further information that three people with their faces covered ran from the scene.

None of the passengers on board the coach were injured.

Blues fans were left frustrated after the match against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday saw the home team suffer a disappointing 1-0 defeat.

The loss meant Southend now sit 20th in League One - just above the relegation zone on goal difference.
